You can absolutely phase it, and a lot of our clients do exactly that, starting with the pool or the patio and adding the kitchen, fire feature, or covered structure in a later year. The key is designing the full layout upfront even if you are only building part of it now, so the drainage, electrical, and grading are already in place and you are not tearing up finished work later to add the next piece.

It runs in a wide range depending on scope. An essential backyard, a pool with a deck or patio and basic landscaping, typically runs $85,000 to $150,000. An entertainment backyard that adds a kitchen, fire feature, and covered space runs $150,000 to $275,000. A full resort-level backyard with custom gunite, structures, and every feature runs $275,000 to $600,000 or more. It depends heavily on scope, but a full project typically runs from a few months to well over half a year when you stack a pool, hardscape, structures, and a kitchen together. Design and permitting happen first, then a gunite pool alone is 8 to 12 weeks, fiberglass is 3 to 4 weeks, and decks and hardscape usually run 2 to 4 weeks each. We give you a realistic sequenced timeline for your specific project once we know the full scope.
