That is possible because the shell is manufactured off-site and crane-set into your excavated hole in a single day, so we are not forming and curing concrete on your property for months. Permitting and design happen before that clock starts, so total calendar time also depends on how fast those approvals come back.

A quality fiberglass shell lasts 20 to 35 years. The gelcoat surface is what ages first, similar to a boat hull, and how it holds up depends a lot on water chemistry and sun exposure over the years.

The two real issues are gelcoat fading or dulling over time from sun and water chemistry, and, on a poorly done install, walls that bulge or a shell that shifts because the backfill and drainage were not handled correctly. Fiberglass also comes in a fixed set of shapes and sizes since the shell is pre-manufactured, so if you want a fully custom shape, a gunite pool is the better fit. We tell people this upfront because a good fiberglass pool and a bad one look identical on install day, the difference shows up in year five.

Fine, when it is winterized correctly. The real freeze risk is water left sitting in the plumbing lines, which can crack pipes and equipment, so proper closing means clearing those lines, lowering the water to the right level without fully draining the pool, and covering it. The shell itself is not the vulnerable part, the plumbing and equipment are.

Yes, and it is a great pairing. The gelcoat surface is unaffected by salt, unlike some plaster and tile finishes that can wear faster under a saltwater system. A saltwater system makes its own chlorine from dissolved salt, so the water feels softer and you handle fewer chemicals day to day.

There are two separate warranties, and it matters to understand both. As an authorized Imagine Pools dealer, the shell itself carries the manufacturer structural warranty, and separately we stand behind our own installation workmanship. Equipment like pumps, heaters, and lights carry their own manufacturer warranties on top of that. We spell out exactly what is covered, and for how long, in writing before you sign.
