Composite Deck, Porcelain, Fire Pit & Putting Green

Elevated in Kensington

A tired backyard in the Kensington community off Northshore Drive in Knoxville got a full reset. We tore out the old deck, the dated pool decking, and the outdated flagstone coping, then rebuilt it all: new pool tile, a porcelain pool-deck overlay, a multi-level composite deck under a black aluminum cover with cable railing, a custom putting green with boulder seating, a stacked-stone gas fire pit, and all-new pool equipment with automation.

The Challenge

The backyard had good bones but tired finishes. An aging deck, dated pool decking, and worn flagstone coping no longer matched the home in the Kensington community off Northshore Drive, and nothing tied the pool, the seating, and the yard together.

What We Did

We took the whole space back to a blank slate. Out came the old deck, the pool decking, and the flagstone coping. We re-tiled the pool and laid a porcelain overlay across the entire pool deck for a clean, modern surface. A new multi-level composite deck went up under a black aluminum cover, wrapped in cable railing on both the deck and the stairs. Then came the living space: a custom putting green with boulder seating, a stacked-stone gas fire pit anchoring a turf-bordered lounge, a pool equipment shed, and all-new equipment with automation so the pool runs from a phone.

Our Process

From Vision to Reality

1

Design

We planned one cohesive material story, porcelain, composite, stacked stone, and turf, so the deck, pool, fire pit, and putting green would read as one backyard instead of a handful of separate projects.

2

Build

We demoed the old deck, pool decking, and flagstone coping, re-tiled the pool, and laid the porcelain overlay. We framed and decked the multi-level composite deck under the aluminum cover with cable railing, then built the fire-pit lounge, putting green, shed, and equipment pad.

3

Enjoy

A resort-level backyard: an elevated deck for shade and views, a fire-pit lounge for the evenings, a putting green for the weekends, and a pool that practically runs itself.
